Servicing Greener Cities
We worked with Treebox to embed the circular economy in their greenwall services, products and systems.
Brief: Treebox make and install living wall solutions for urban areas. We won funding with them to design a business model, service and integrated product design that would help Treebox reclaim more value from their products at the end of life and support the companies growth.
Process: We undertook a range of activities research and design the product and service, spanning from ethnographic research, life cycle analysis and visit manufacturing facilities and then making product development and creative business modelling sessions based on the research.
Outcome: The outcome were a business model and series of strategic recommendations that set out the key directions and areas for further design development, including new services, integrated product design concepts and briefs, communication strategies and most importantly ways of extending their service offering increasing revenue and supporting social issues whilst recycling and reusing the product. We forecast the impact would reduce material waste per unit by half, help the company double the growth rate and still reduce the environmental impact by half.Project led by Rob Maslin in collaboration with Beagley-Brown.
